“A Most Amazing Place, and The Most Wonderful Staff Ever”

My son and I traveled to Hue for both business and pleasure. We found this hotel on tripadvisor.com, and this is the best place we stayed on our trip through four cities in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau, Hue, and Hanoi). Not only that, it has the nicest and most competent and caring staff of any hotel I have ever stayed in anywhere in the world. What a place!
This hotel is beautiful, with curb appeal from the outside, and it is just as attractive inside. Its lobby is intimate and lovely, the dining room has a beautiful decor with a fountain on one wall. The room we were in is elegant, with a wood appointed decor and great beds, with free internet access constantly available on the provided in room computer.
The most marvelous thing at the Orchid Hotel is something money cannot buy, a staff that truly is caring and genuinely passionate about providing the best quality service anyone can imagine. From housekeeping to the manager, they were superior. The bellmen where always there to help and to arrange services and trips needed, the receptionists at the front desk were like best friends, making you feel so welcome 100% of the time regardless of which one was on duty (thank you all so very much), the cooks and waitresses in the restaurant always had a great breakfast tailored to individual needs, the driver in the hotel car provided for an out of town business trip to Da Nang and found a conference when I had no real address for it...he was amazing. These wonderful people all make you feel not only welcome, but as part of their family while there. There is a gentleness, and genuiness about this staff that starts at the top, from the manager, Mr Dung,who so obviously cares about his staff and it resonates through the entire hotel. They greet you when you come down by name and worry about you when you do not. They truly care about their guests as if they have welcomed you into their personal homes and show you the best care that I have ever had in a hotel anywhere. This is a world class staff, whose style should be envied by any hotel regardless of how many stars it has acquired. For service alone, on a five star hotel rating scale, this staff gets a rating of ten stars from me. They are over the top, way over the top!
If I could make a suggestion, it would be that other hotels world wide should send staff to the Orchid Hotel to see how a hotel should treat guests. It would improve hotel service for any who copied their style and sophistication. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, from travelers such as my son and I, to kings and political leaders. They made us feel like royalty and we are just a teacher and a college professor. We felt as if they scattered flower petals in our paths where ever we went, and somehow, I think they really did. Only they and we know how much that is really true!
To the staff of the Orchid Hotel, all of you, I thank you for making our stay memorable beyond belief. You are the best ever. I only wish I could stay with you where ever I go. Somehow that is just not possible, So I must return to Hue to your hotel. Count on it!

Would I recommend you stay at this hotel? You'd be nuts not to stay here.
We booked this hotel via our Hotel in Hanoi and BOY did we ever get a great friendly place to match where we left. From the Hotel Elegance 2 to the Orchid, who thought the standard would remain so high and the staff continue to be so outstanding?
We opted for the SE3 overnight train (that is another story) and were met with waves and happy calls from the person charged with arranging our transfer to the Hotel.. wow we felt like rock stars!
The rooms were magnificently large, quiet, clean well furnished and a great standard. Great free breakfast every morning excellent choice and quality
The staff were a young crew with some very witty ladies to assist us and humour us as we completed those dastardly pieces of paper work. Always ready with a recommendation, a smile and a kind word, this place also made us feel at home and regret we only stayed a short time. Never mind, WE WILL BE BACK.. If I ran a hotel, I would be poaching eveyone of these people for my hotel.
NOTHING was too difficult to arrange. To those lovely people at the Orchid, stay as sweet as you are, we look forward to seeing you again.
We hope happy Buddha will have trimmed down by next visit.

This is the best hotel experience I've ever had. I've never been to a hotel so focused on looking after guests and giving people what they actually want!
It started the moment we got off the train at Hué station: someone was there to meet us (even though our train was over 1hr late and we had no way of letting them know this) and we were driven in a private car to the hotel for free. No catches, no extras - completely free!
On arrival we were given a warm welcome and drink and were given a free upgrade to a bigger room. Everyone was extremely friendly, staff spoke very good English and at no point did they try to push extras on to us like paying for bigger rooms or going to their recommended shops. Everybody was genuine. The hotel is small and there is a real family feel to it - they know who you and remember what you've told them so there is no feeling of just being 'another' guest in a big anonymous hotel. A very pleasant atmosphere and we felt we could trust staff and rely on information they gave us.
The room was amazing. Balcony, great bathroom, bed complete with flower petals (made twice a day if you go out in the evenings!) and a free platter of fruit delivered in the afternoon. Three free bottles of water per day came with the room, very much appreciated! Best of all, the room had a PERSONAL COMPUTER in it, complete with internet access, and a FREE DVD PLAYER with the modern flatscreen TV! You could go downstairs and borrow DVDs from reception for free - again, no catches. It was great to relax following a hard day's sightseeing with a movie. The hotel also has menus from a local Italian restaurant - if you want room service they'll ring up and place your order for you, bring the food to your room on a tray once it's delivered, you can pay them directly and it doesn't cost one cent more than the restaurant menu price. Fantastic! (And great food too, btw). Breakfast was also fantastic. Great service, again, and nice selection of foods plus eggs made to your order. The hotel offers laundry at very affordable prices too - everything came back clean, fresh and pressed and it cost next to nothing. Other hotels should take heed that charging less for laundry actually means guests are more likely to use the service than when you try to rip them off!
This was the only hotel I stayed at in Vietnam offering cultural tours at affordable prices. We paid $5 each for an all-day bus and boat tour along the perfume river. Great trip and totally worth the money. Every other hotel in Vietnam we stayed at tried to rip guests off - Orchid charges genuinely fair prices. The same goes for airport rides - just $10 for a private car to the airport. Nice car, friendly driver, great service and no ugly add-ons upon arrival (we used a similar service at another hotel in another city where the driver tried to get a tip out of us on arrival, for example). Whenever you go out anywhere, the porter rushes to the fridge and brings you a bottle of cold water to take with you, free of charge. Greatly appreciated. It's often the little things that make the difference and this hotel gets all of them right.
I'm not the type of person to be easily satisfied - I consider myself a rather picky customer keen to complain when things aren't good - and I have absolutely nothing but good to say about the Orchid Hotel. It's perfect. Management have done a fantastic job and I can tell it's a hotel where everybody feels part of a family and everyone enjoys working there. And as a guest you'll love staying there too. This is a model hotel for others to follow. We heard that another place has tried to rip off the Orchid by using the same name, unsurprising given how great the hotel is, so make sure you get the right place!
